Braintree Man Among 4 Charged in Murre Shooting
Police say the men were shooting murres, a bird with no hunting season.

BRAINTREE, MA — Four men, including a Braintree man, face charges after allegedly illegally shooting ducks near Trouant Island.
Gerry Moy, 59, of Braintree, was charged with hunting from a moving boat, hunting during closed season, exceeding the bag limit of sea ducks, motorboat equipment violation, and having no state or federal waterfowl stamp. Ziauang Zhu, 46, of Randolph; Jacky Shi, 37, of Wellesley; and Zemin Wu, 25, of Quincy also face similar charges, according to the Patriot Ledger.
Thursday morning, police responded to a complaint involving waterfowl hunters. At the scene, police observed the four men shooting at the animals from a moving vessel, according to aa Facebook post from the Massachusetts Environmental Police.

After boarding the vessel, police noticed that the men didn't have state or federal duck stamps and lacked the proper amount of flotation devices. The four were taken into custody and arraigned in Hingham District Court Friday. The men are free on their own recognizance and are due back in court on March 23.
