Braintree Observes 15th Anniversary of September 11, 2001

Braintree Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan has announced two events to remember those who lost their lives on that terrible day.

In observation of the 15th anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan has announced two upcoming events to remember those who lost their lives on that terrible day.

On the evening of Thursday, September 8th the Thayer Public Library will be hosting a program featuring Michael Hingson a survivor of the attacks who was on the 78th floor of Tower One of the World Trade Center that morning. Mr. Hingson, who is blind, has written and spoken extensively about his experiences, particularly his escape from the tower with the assistance of his guide dog, Roselle. The event will be held at 7pm in the Logan Auditorium of the Library. Residents should contact the Library Reference Desk at 781-848-0405 ex:4417 for reserve a place for this event.

On the morning on Friday, September 9th Mayor Sullivan and Fire Chief James O’Brien will host the annual memorial service. This year the event will take place in front of Braintree Town Hall beginning at 8:30am. Following the service, attendees are welcome to join the Mayor and the Fire Chief for a light breakfast in the Cahill auditorium of Braintree Town Hall.
