Braintree Officer Goes Super Troopers on Scam Caller

Like Officer Foster in the movie, Braintree Police Officer Peter Gillis decided to play the meow game with a scammer.

BRAINTREE, MA — A Braintree police officer decided to have some fun with a scam phone call that tried to convince him that he had a computer virus.

Wednesday, Officer Peter Gillis wrote on the Braintree Police Department's NextDoor page Wednesday that he received a call on his cell phone while showing an intern around the station. Initially assuming that it was probably the dispatcher since their caller ID comes up as "unknown," it was actually a scammer. Not passing up an opportunity to have a laugh, Gillis fooled around with the caller and even played the meow game made famous by the movie "Super Troopers."

"Needless to say I had some fun with him playing the repeat game, seeing how many times I could say "meow", etc. Let's just say he wasn't happy and ended the call calling me something that would have gotten my mouth washed out with soap when I was younger," Gillis wrote.
