Braintree to Open Warming Centers

Residents who need a place to warm up Friday can use the Thayer Library and Department of Elder Affairs.

From the Town of Braintree:

Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan has announced that the Department of Elder Affairs at 71 Cleveland Avenue and the Thayer Public Library will be open to all residents on December 16th who require relief from the forecasted extreme cold.

“Friday’s temperatures are expected to be the lowest since the ‘polar vortex’ of 2014” said Sullivan. “I would encourage any resident who needs relief from the cold to visit our Department of Elder Affairs or Library tomorrow.

Staff will be on-hand to provide hot beverages. Residents are also welcome to participate in any pre-planned activities at both locations.

The Department of Elder Affairs will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday and the Library will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Residents with questions can call the Mayor’s office at 781-794-8100 or the Department of Elder Affairs at 781-843-1963.
