Braintree Promotes Deputy Chief To Chief Of Police Role
Braintree Deputy Chief Timothy Cohoon will step into the chief role after Mark DuBois departs for Portland.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree's search for a new police chief didn't last long, and Mayor Charles Kokoros stuck to his word about promoting from within.
With current Chief Mark DuBois set to depart for Portland, Maine, at the end of the month, Kokoros announced this week that Deputy Chief Timothy Cohoon will step into the top role.
"With great pride and confidence, I have appointed Deputy Chief Cohoon as the new Police Chief of Braintree," Kokoros said.

"His passion for public service and his dedication to our community make him the ideal leader for our police force. I have witnessed Deputy Chief Cohoon's outstanding work firsthand for over twenty years, and I am certain that under his guidance, the Braintree Police Department will continue to serve with excellence."
Cohoon has over 27 years of experience in law enforcement and recently graduated from the exclusive FBI National Academy.

The appointment comes just days before DuBois begins his new role in Portland, which starts July 31.
Dubois has been the chief in Braintree since 2019 and served as chief in Maynard, Mass. for seven years prior. He marks the first permanent chief for Portland since 2021.
