Braintree’s Community Partnership on Substance Use Gets Over $16,000 in Donations

The Town Council accepted the donations from Friends of Braintree Firefighters, Liberty Bay Credit Union, and Braintree Rotary.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree’s Community Partnership on Substance Use is about to get a financial boost thanks to three donations.

The Braintree Town Council voted Tuesday night to accept a $15,000 donation from Friends of Braintree Fire Fighters. A $1,000 donation from Liberty Bay Credit Union and $200 from the Braintree Rotary Fund were also accepted. A total of $16,200 will go to the Braintree Community Partnership on Substance Use.

A majority of the funds from Friends of Braintree Fire Fighters came from a September golf tournament held in late Septembner.

“I do want to thank Braintree fire and Chief O’Brien for raising these funds. As the partnership continues, grows, and work travels through the community, the funds are going to be necessary,” Councilor Michael Owens said.

Town Council President Sean Powers said after the meeting that he anticipates the funds will be used for opioid abuse programs.
