Braintree School Enrollment Projected to Increase
New numbers show an increase for the school district.
More kids could be in the Braintree Public Schools if new enrollment projections hold up.
Unveiled during Superintendent Frank Hackett’s presentation on school space needs, the town is estimated to have 5,978 students in the school system in 10 years. The increase is a difference of 549 when compared to the 5,429 students currently in the system.
With the focus of the presentation on the needs of the elementary and middle schools, the discussion also focused on those enrollment numbers. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade are expected to peak during the 2023-24 school year with 2,702 students, up by 207 students when compared to this year.

Hackett, however, concluded that the numbers will likely be complicated by new families who move to town and others living in multi-family units, adding that the numbers do have reliability problems beyond four to five years.
