Braintree: Tri-Town Water Treatment Plant Construction Underway
The $122 million plant will treat over 12 million gallons per day for Braintree, Randolph and Holbrook.
BRAINTREE, MA — Construction efforts have begun on a tri-town water treatment plant that will provide over 12 million gallons of water per day for Braintree, Randolph and Holbrook.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of the $122 million plant on Dec. 13, which was attended by Braintree Mayor Charles Kokoros. Kokoros, in addition to his role as mayor, serves as the chair of the Tri-Town Board of Water Commissioners.
As for covering the cost of the project, Braintree will pay half of the construction costs, while Randolph and Holbrook split the difference on the remaining costs. Additional funding was provided through the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund, according to information from the water commissioners.
