Cape Man Shoots At Hyannis Home With Children Inside: Police

Some of the children inside the Hyannis home were under the age of 10, Barnstable police said.

HYANNIS, MA — A Yarmouth man was arrested Tuesday after Barnstable police said he shot a gun at a Hyannis home with children under age 10 inside.

Christopher Bloniarz, 36, was charged with eight counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of a firearm without a license to carry and possession of ammunition.

Police said they received a report of gun shots around 6:50 p.m., at a house in the 500th block of Pitchers Way. Bloniarz shot several rounds from outside the home, and some made their way inside, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police said they identified Bloniarz as the suspect and worked with Yarmouth police and the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team to find him. Bloniarz was found at his home in Yarmouth, police said.

Bloniarz was held on $10,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court Wednesday.
