Braintree, MA - A Wareham man was taken into custody last weekend after police concluded that he was biking while impaired.
On Dec. 5, shortly before 8:30 p.m., an officer on Grove Street observed a man on a bicycle swerve into the path of the officer’s cruiser, nearly causing a crash, according to Police Chief Russ Jenkins.
When the officer stopped the cyclist to speak with him, observations were made to lead the officer to believe that the suspect was impaired. The cyclist, Christopher Smythe, 29, was placed into custody after the officer concluded that the bike rider’s safety was as risk if he was allowed to go.
