Power Outage on Red Line Halts Train North of Braintree Station

The lack of power on the third rail left a train disabled near Braintree for over two hours.

50 passengers on a Red Line train have found themselves stuck north of Braintree for over two hours due to a power outage.

The Boston Globe reports that power was lost on the third rail between Quincy Adams and Braintree, bringing severe delays to the Red Line towards Braintree and Ashmont around 4:40 p.m.

Passengers stuck between Braintree and Quincy Adams were eventually transported back to Braintree according to WHDH.

Due to the outage, buses are being utilized between JFK/UMass and Braintree.

Passengers seeking outbound service from South Station to JFK/UMass, Quincy Center, and Braintree stations, are asked to use the Commuter Rail Middleboro/Lakeville, Kingston/Plymouth, and Greenbush lines.
