DNA Links Braintree Man to Quincy Bank Robbery
Police say Chad Starr, 26, robbed a Citizen Bank in 2015.

Braintree, MA — A Braintree man has been identified as the suspect in a Quincy bank robbery after being linked to the case by DNA evidence, police said.
Chad Starr, 26, of Braintree, is the person who police say robbed the Quincy Citizen Bank. He is currently being held at the Norfolk County House of Corrections on unrelated charges stemming from a 2004 incident in Quincy, according to the Quincy Police Department.
On Sept. 10, 2015, at about 1:30 p.m., the bank, located on Hancock Street in Quincy Center, was allegedly robbed by Starr. Police say he passed a note to the teller demanding money and ran towards Holmes Street upon exiting the bank.

While investigating, police found several items on Billings Road, including a light gray baseball hat similar to the one worn by the suspect. The hat was recovered and sent to the Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab to be processed for DNA. On May 30, the department received a notification from state police indicating that the DNA profile was linked to Starr.
The system used to identify Starr is known as the “Combined DNA Index System.” It is the generic term used to describe the FBI’s program of support for criminal justice DNA databases as well as the software used to run these databases, police said.
