Luis A. Baezdume, 31, was charged with distribution of heroin and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act, according to Police Chief Russ Jenkins.

The driver, later identified as Baezdume, exited his vehicle while talking on his cell phone. Detectives followed Baezdume to Taylor Street where he met with a resident of one of the homes and engaged in what detectives believed was a hand to hand drug transaction on the front steps of the home.
The two men then parted company and detectives approached and detained both men in separate locations.

An admission of information by the buyer to Detective Mark Sherrick was communicated to the task force officer, who detained Baezdume. No charges have been filed against the man.
Detectives confronted Baezdume with their suspicions, but he denied any involvement in drug dealing. $845 was seized from Baezdume before he was taken into custody.
