GoFundMe Campaign Aims to Help Family of Man Killed in Braintree Water Tower

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help the family of a Texas man who was killed while inspecting a water tower in Braintree.

BRAINTREE, MA — On the heels of an unthinkable incident, a GoFundMe campaign has been created to help the family of a Texas man who was killed while inspecting a water tower in Braintree.

The David Scott Memorial and Funeral fund has a goal of $15,000 has raised $6,205 as of midday Tuesday.

"Please help support the Scott family through their recent tragic loss. David Scott loving father and devoted husband died Thursday when his air supply suddenly stopped working. Dave was on a routine commercial diving job in Massachusetts when the tragedy struck. He was the only source of income for their family. Please help the Scott family pay for his memorial and funeral expenses this Holiday with your generous donation. Anything extra will ensure a good Christmas for his children!" Campaign creator Joel Sparenberg.

On Dec. 15, Scott and his son were inspecting a water tower off of Lincoln Street when Scott's equipment malfunctioned while he was inside the tower. A 911 call was made and his son, who was the spotter, jumped into the tower in an attempt to save him but was unable to. The son was saved and taken to the hospital but his father died in the tower.

Town officials said last week that the believe the death was the result of an accident.
