Interim Braintree Police Chief Tapped to Become Perminant Chief
Mayor Joseph Sullivan has asked the town council to consider Interim Police Chief Paul Shastany as his pick for the job.

BRAINTREE, MA — Interim Police Chief Paul Shastany could be around for the long haul.
Tuesday night, the Braintree Town Council is scheduled to vote on referring Mayor Joseph Sullivan's request to make Shastany the permanent chief to the council's ways and means committee. Interim department heads appointed by the the mayor can be on the job for 120 days, according to the town charter.
Shastany started what was expected to be a temporary assignment in October. He previously spent 28 years in Framingham and was the chief of Stoughton Police Department.
