BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree has met the state's requirement for affordable housing and no longer needs to accept Chapter 40B developments, Mayor Joseph Sullivan said.
Sullivan told the Boston Globe that the town’s planning and assessing departments has determined that 1.5 percent of the town's land mass has been se aside for affordable housing. That's about 8.4 percent of the town's housing stock, Sullivan said.
The state's Chapter 40B law says that communities must set aside 10 percent of their housing stock or 1.5 percent of landmass for affordable housing.
