Police Searches Coming to Braintree High

The school committee voted to allow the police department to conduct drug searches.

Drug searches are coming to Braintree High School as part of the community’s effort against the opioid epidemic.

This week, the Braintree School Committee voted to authorize the police department to conduct searches and to create a committee that would study the district’s health and wellness curriculum according to the Patriot Ledger. The subcommittee would introduce ways improved methods to address drug education.

The measure was proposed by Town Councilor Dan Clifford, who saw a canine search demonstration at Whitman-Hanson High School.

Joseph Mayor Sullivan called the measure a chance to play some offense and combat the epidemic seriously.
