Postal Worker Praised for Saving Braintree Man

U.S. Postal Service carrier Tom Balzano is being called a hero after calling 911 and helping save an elderly man.

BRAINTREE, MA - A postal worker from South Weymouth is being called a hero after noticing the absence of a senior resident on his route.

Friday, U.S. Postal Service carrier Tom Balzano was on his route in Braintree when he arrived at a home on Baker Avenue. Unlike most days, the 67-year-old who lives in the house was not at the door to collect his social security check, according to the Boston Herald.

Concerned for the man’s wellbeing, Balzano called 911, with firefighters needing to break in through the basement to get to the man.
