Randolph Man Sentenced to Prison for Braintree, Milton Bank Robberies

Gary S. Judge, 37, admitted last year to robbing two banks in Braintree and Milton.

BOSTON, MA — A Randolph man will spend nearly five years in prison for two bank robberies in Milton and Braintree.

Gary S. Judge, 37, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 57 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $6,292 in restitution. In October 2016, he pleaded guilty to two counts of bank robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

On July 28, 2014, Judge entered Century Bank in Braintree with a shoe box and handed the teller a demand note that stated, “PUT THE MONEY IN THE BOX NOW, $20’S $50’S AND $100’S.” Judge received $5,622 before leaving. A few days later on Aug. 11, Judge entered a Citizens Bank in Milton with a shoe box and the same note. The teller handed Judge $670 in cash, which he put in the shoe box before exiting the bank, the U.S. Attorney's office said. After Judge fled, a dye pack included with the cash went off and a bank customer saw red smoke coming from the box as Judge drove away in a Chrysler SUV with Massachusetts license plates.

A few weeks later, law enforcement officers received a tip that Judge might have been involved in the robberies. A recent picture of Judge matched bank surveillance photographs from both the Braintree and Milton robberies. Investigators learned that Judge’s wife owned a Chrysler SUV that matched the description from the Milton robbery.

Judge was arrested on Dec. 30, 2014, and admitted to robbing the banks.
