Two Charged with Installing Skimmer in Braintree ATM

Police say the two placed in skimmer inside an ATM at Five Corners.

BRAINTREE, MA - Two men from New York were taken into custody this week for allegedly placing a skimmer in an ATM in Braintree.

Police say Antonio Scapescia, 21 and Ion Bonculescu, 23 installed a skimmer discovered at the Bank of America ATM at Five Corners according to WHDH.

They were charged with defacing property, breaking into a depository, conspiracy and identity theft, according to the Patriot Ledger.

A skimmer is used to capture information. When a person used the ATM, the skimmer would collect the information on the card, allowing the two to possibly steal money from their bank accounts.
