Walorz-Killeffer Requests Recount In Braintree District 1 Race
Unofficial election results showed District 1 Town Councilor Julia Flaherty with a six-vote lead over challenger Jodi Walorz-Killeffer.

BRAINTREE, MA — A candidate for Town Council in Braintree is requesting a recount after unofficial results showed she lost by just six votes.
The District 1 town council race created a delay in results coming in, given how close the race was, Town Clerk Jim Casey said. Incumbent Julia Flaherty won 555-549 over Jodi Walorz-Killeffer, according to unofficial results.
Walorz-Killeffer thanked her supporters for voting for her and said she owes it to them to make sure the final tally was correct. She said District 1 voters deserve a "final resolve to this uncertainty as quickly as possible."

"As I said to my opponent on voting day wishing her luck, it was a great race," Walorz-Killeffer said. "Given there is only a 6 vote margin between myself and the incumbent, I feel I owe it to the voters and residents of District 1 to ensure that their votes were accounted for and done so with accuracy. Out of great respect for the Electoral Process, my campaign team and I have formally initiated a request for a recount of yesterday's ballot."
Flaherty told Patch she's thrilled to have won and appreciates the support of voters in the district.
