Electrical Malfunction Cited as Reason for Fire on Washington Street
Fire crews are responded a fire on Washington Street.

Braintree Police and Fire officials responded to a fire Tuesday morning at 399 Washington Street in Braintree.
According to the Braintree Fire Department, smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived on the scene earlier a little after 8:00 a.m. this morning.
A faulty electrical box sparked the blaze according to NECN. The power supply to the home had to be shut off before fire crews could enter the home.

The fire caused an estimated $80,000 in damage.
The building is a commercial front with apartments in the rear and above floors according to Braintree Fire.

Due to the fire, Washington Street was closed at Elm and West Streets. The road was reopened by 1:00 p.m.
