Where To Commemorate 9/11 In Massachusetts
Ceremonies and memorials across Massachusetts will honor the 2,997 people who were killed in the 9/11 terror attacks.
BOSTON — Communities throughout Massachusetts will commemorate the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks Wednesday, Sept. 11. Ceremonies and memorials across the state will honor the 2,997 people who were killed in plane hijacking attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon and aboard Flight 93. All four planes involved in the attack took off from Logan Airport.

Moment of Silence At Logan Airport

A moment of silence is scheduled for 8:46 a.m. inside each Logan Airport terminal. The time was chosen because it was the time the first hijacked plane struck the World Trade Center. There will also be a color guard at terminal B. If you miss the ceremony, but still want to pay your respects, the 9/11 Memorial outside the airport is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
9/11 Service Project to Support Our Troops & Families

Another great way to commemorate 9/11 is by doing something positive for the troops. The Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund planned a care package drive to support active military and veterans and a pledge drive to support military families who've lost loved ones in the line of duty. The events is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at the Mother’s Walk of the Rose Kennedy Greenway on Atlantic Avenue in Boston.
Weston Planting 3,000 U.S. Flags
Weston residents will plant 3,000 flags Wednesday morning to create a 9/11 memorial. The event is open to the public and residents are encouraged to help plant flags to honor the victims. The event starts at 8:30 a.m and will feature a brief ceremony.
Two Moments of Silence in Braintree
Braintree will host a a remembrance ceremony tomorrow morning for the 18th anniversary of 9/11 attacks. The ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Cahill Auditorium at the town hall. Two moments of silence are scheduled for 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 a.m., the times when the two hijacked planes struck the World Trade Center in New York City. The ceremony will also include remarks from May Joseph Sullivan, patriotic music by the Braintree High School choir and a light breakfast.
Peabody Memorial With The Scouts
Troop 119 in Peabody planned a remembrance ceremony for 7:30 p.m. at the First Responder's memorial down the street from the new middle school. Since none of the scouts were alive or old enough to remember the 9/11 attacks, the leaders will share their own memories of that day and the weeks after it happened.
Danvers Annual 9/11 Remembrance at New Brothers Restaurant
Danvers has a morning packed with ceremonies remembering 9/11. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. at New Brother Restaurant and Deli, local clergy will lead the community in a prayer, followed by colors, a moment of silence, spealers and a performance from the North Shoremen Barbershop Quartet. Breakfast will be available after the ceremony. New Brothers is located at 31 Maple St.
The Danver Fire Department will also hold a ceremony at 9:55 a.m. Captain Frank Sacco will speak with a flag ceremony and bell ringing to follow. The fire department is located at 64 High St.
