But the story between the family and its heroes didn't end there; days later, Brookline police officers were awarded with a plate of cookies, and the first responders who took the call surprised their new friend on his first birthday.

In a post on the Brookline Fire Department's Facebook page, the department shared photos of officers and firefighters posing with the infant, who was just days shy of his birthday when they saved his life.
