Brookline Man Sentenced To Federal Prison On Child Exploitation Charge
The sentencing comes more than a year after the man was arrested in Brookline.
BROOKLINE, MA — A resident was sentenced in federal court after pleading guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of children, according to the United States Attorney’s Office District of Massachusetts.
Scott Cunha, 26, will now serve 15 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release. Cunha was first arrested at his home in January 2025 for attempting to solicit pornographic images and videos from a 15-year old. He has reportedly used the social media platform Snapchat to have sexually-charged conversations with multiple children between the ages of 13 and 16 since 2022. He proposed an exchange of nude photos and videos as well as sexual rendezvous in exchange for money to children in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, and Missouri. According to the initial charging document, Cunha has met with at least one victim in the past. One known encounter took place in 2022 that had Cunha meeting up with a 13-year-old girl at a mall in Massachusetts where he touched her inappropriately and tried to kiss her, according to an original arrest affidavit.
Cunha worked as a part-time employee for Brookline’s Recreation Department as a lifeguard and swim coach at the Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center on 60 Tappan St. from September. 2019 to July 2022. He was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Myong J. Joun on Thursday, Feb. 19. Cunha first pleaded guilty last October.

While working his way toward that title, Glenn Cunha worked in the Attorney General’s office, where he served as the Managing Attorney of the Criminal Bureau overseeing eight divisions and supervising investigations and prosecutions that had to do with crimes such as human trafficking, child pornography, probation, lottery, fraudulently produced MBTA passes, and financial fraud.
