2 Hospitalized, Many Displaced After Boston Fire
The flames broke out at a Jamaica Plain residence early Wednesday morning.
BOSTON, MA — Two people have been hospitalized and more than a dozen displaced after a large fire broke out at a multi-family residence early Wednesday morning, according to the Boston Fire Department.
Crews responded to the three-alarm blaze at 98 Wyman St. in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood at approximately 4:45 a.m. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen emanating from the property, and it soon spread to the neighboring property on 100 Wyman St. According to the department, all occupants were evacuated by 5:41 a.m., and the majority of the fire had been knocked down seven minutes later, with three hotspots throughout the residence still being worked on.
Deputy Chief Grant Viola said the firefighter was taken to the hospital after the ceiling collapsed. The other person transported was a resident. Viola said that 11 adults, two children, and two pets have been displaced by the incident and that Red Cross Massachusetts is assisting them with finding temporary housing.
