Brookline No. 21 on Money Magazine's 'Best Places to Live 2014'

The ranking comes days after Newton was ranked the best big city to live in the country.

Brookline is one of the best places to live in the country, according to a new survey.

Money Magazine ranked Brookline No. 21 on its “Best Places to Live 2014” list.

Money Magazine cited the town’s boutiques, restaurants, parks, and high-quality schools.

A downside, the magazine said, is the lack of affordable housing, as a condo can run $500,000.

  • Median family income: $156,042
  • Median home price: $615,000
  • Average property taxes: $9,165
  • Job growth: 2.6 percent

McKinney, Texas topped Money Magazine’s list. Newton was the only other Massachusetts community to make the top 50.
