Brookline's Butcherie Temporarily Takes Over Former Rubin's Location

The kosher grocery store and market began operating out of the longtime Brookline deli on Friday.

BROOKLINE, MA – The Butcherie has begun operating out of the former Rubin's Deli location, a month after a two-alarm fire severely damaged its building on Harvard Street.

The kosher grocery store and market announced on Facebook Sunday that it has begun serving its produce in a limited capacity at 500 Harvard St.

According to the announcement, it will continue to offer deli meats, salads and catering services, but prepared foods will be available for solely for takeout.

It will operate at the former Rubin's site until about Sep. 5, ahead of its planned reopening at 428 Harvard St. on Sep. 6.

Rubin's closed earlier this month after owner Allen Gellerman sold the property to developer David Danesh. However, the future of the longtime Brookline eatery remains in limbo; Danesh has expressed his desire to keep the restaurant in business and told the Boston Globe that he has opened up negotiations with potential operators for the deli.
