I'm writing this, but I could be anyone in Brookline. I could be many things: student in the Brookline school system over the last 30 years; a small business owner looking for a North Star; a local nonprofit in need of leadership and financial support, or someone down on their luck in desperate need of someone to believe in them, support them, help them find the voice they lost.
I could be any age, any gender, any race, any person. Anyone could be writing this because Chobee touches everyone she meets. She listens. She cares. Whether it's her family, her community, or her business, Chobee is present.
This nonprofit honored Chobee in 2015 with the Ethel Weiss Service Award. Chobee has supported the Brookline Youth Awards since its inception. As I wrote back then, "I don't think I've interviewed one young person in the five years since the Youth Awards were established, who doesn't know Chobee. I don't mean heard of Chobee; I mean knows Chobee. Chobee gives our young people advice, mentoring, she financially supports their causes at every turn, she listens to them, and she sets an example for them. In a world that sometimes seems bereft of adult role models for teens, Chobee is someone we want our young people to know."

On October 3, from 7 pm to 7:45 pm, the 501c3 nonprofit Women Thriving will honor Chobee Hoy with an event called "Celebrating Chobee." How fitting.
Consider this, everything the public knows about the Chobee Hoy Story she accomplished after the age of 58. Chobee is the perfect example of what happens when a woman and a senior as well I might add, has an equal opportunity to thrive.

"Celebrating Chobee" will include a surprising cast of Brookline characters and local celebrities who will offer tributes and music of various kinds. At the same time, guests enjoy hors d 'oeuvres from VineRipe Catering and a sweet treat from Clear Flour Bakery. Tracy Clark, Chobee's daughter and a chip off her block, will perform with her band The Manhattan's "Shining Star." A sexy male chorus that includes Rob Daves, Tommy Murray, Geoff Wadsworth, Tom Page, John Clark, Bert Syms, and myself, will back Tracy's terrific band.
Women Thriving brings together low-income women with the community to understand their needs and resources to create programming to fulfill the WOMEN THRIVING mission goals of learning, leadership, and community.
Women Thriving. How basic, fundamental, and necessary to our community's well-being is that concept?
