Coolidge Corner Library Set To Reopen Soon

The library, which cost almost $3 million to renovate, is set to reopen in early December.

BROOKLINE, MA — This June the Coolidge Corner library shut down. Six months of renovation later, the library on Pleasant Street is set to reopen next month, complete with ribbon cutting.

The public celebration will be held Dec. 2, and the library will open for regular service Monday, Dec. 3.

As someone walking by on the sidewalk out front might be able to tell from a cursory glance in the windows; the library already looks completely updated inside — from the vibrant walls where a new coat of paint and signs stand out to the new furniture and carpet.

There will also be Chromebooks available for in-library use and there's audiovisual equipment.

The Coolidge Corner Library will also be home to a World Language Center, which will house the Public Library of Brookline’s materials in various languages. Chinese and Russian materials which had temporarily been housed at the Brookline Village Library will return to Coolidge Corner as part of this collection.

The Coolidge Corner Renovation Project ran smoothly, according to library officials, taking exactly six months to finish.

The total cost of the project was just under $3 million, funded by the Town of Brookline as well as private funding from the Brookline Library Foundation, Library Trustees, and Friends of the Brookline Public Library.
