Austin Prep junior takes part in college engineering program

Northeastern University hosted a hands-on interactive engineering day for high school students.

Austin Preparatory School junior Garett Ruping of Burlington took part in a hands-on interactive engineering day for high school students at Northeastern University in Boston.

The six-hour program, called Building Bridges, consisted of three sessions.

The first involved investigating the motions created by different muscles in the body using an engineering software program. Then each student used the program to create movement.

The second involved creating an invention that could assist people with disabilities.

In the third session, students learned about circuits and built some of them.
