Crew 1799 Ice Fishing Trip

Crew 1799 Ice Fishing Trip

Crew 1799 spent a great day on the ice! Crew members learned how to rig ice fishing "tip-ups," drill holes through 8 inches of hard ice, bait hooks with minnows and carefully remove hooks from fishes' mouths. The weather could not have been better ,with temps in the 60s and Crew members wearing shorts and sweatshirts on the ice. The Crew took a midday break for homemade chicken noodle soup before heading back out to the ice. 7 fish were caught, including the nice Chain Pickerel held by Rachael Rigoli (see picture). After cleaning an sorting all of the fishing gear, the Crew settled back to the cabin for chili dogs, chocolate cake and apple pie. The very first Crew 1799 Trivia Contest was held later in the evening, with the winning team mounting a "Patriots Superbowl-esque" comeback! The Crew returned to Burlington on Sunday a.m. after a fabulous breakfast of French Toast, oranges and bananas.

Crew 1799 is a co-ed youth-run (ages 14 - 21) , adult mentored Venturing unit focused on High-Adventure activities including hiking, camping, rock climbing, canoeing and other outdoor adventures.
