Cambridge Man Sentenced for Gun Used in Murder of MIT Officer Sean Collier

Merhawi Berhe pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

A Cambridge man was sentenced Tuesday for charges related to the firearm that was used to kill MIT Police Officer Sean Collier.

Merhawi Berhe, 22, was sentenced in US District Court in Boston to six months in prison and two years of supervised release after pleading guilty in March to possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

On April 18, 2013, Collier, a Wilmington native, was killed by the Boston Marathon bombers.
