📰 News we're reading
• Judicial Inquest Scheduled In Fatal Cambridge Police Shooting (patch.com) — Cambridge residents are being told a judicial inquest will begin next week into the fatal August police shooting on Temple Street, where officers say a Watertown man pointed a gun at them. The proceeding in Middlesex County will review body-camera footage, witness testimony, and other evidence, with the judge's findings and many records to be made public afterward.

• Suspect In Custody After Shelter In Place At Harvard University (patch.com) — People in Cambridge's Harvard area were briefly ordered to shelter in place Tuesday morning as police searched for a person reportedly armed with a knife or machete near Mount Auburn Street. Cambridge, Harvard, and State Police later took a suspect into custody near Mount Auburn Hospital after an aggravated assault and battery report.

• Cambridge Developer Challenges Affordable Housing Ordinance (bankerandtradesman.com) — A proposed 71‑unit building at the former Walgreens near Porter Square is tied up in a lawsuit over Cambridge's affordable housing covenant rules, which require income‑restricted units to be locked in before permits are issued. The developer and Cambridge Savings Bank say that timing makes financing unworkable, and a Superior Court judge has allowed the legal challenge to the city's inclusionary zoning policy to move forward.
