Kevin Reddick, 18, of Cambridge, was charged earlier this year with murder, armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of armed assault with intent to rob, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition and possession of a loaded firearm. Police found Reddick on Stuart Street in Boston on Dec. 31, 2017 and arrested him.
Around 7:30 p.m. last November, Cambridge Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Tremont and Hampshire streets. When they got there they found Mims who had sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. EMTs transported him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police investigators said they learned that two people had allegedly arranged to meet Mims for a drug deal. Mims and another person picked up two men on the evening of the shooting and drove to the Tremont and Hampshire streets area. Reddick and Chambers then allegedly attempted to rob Mims of marijuana at gunpoint.
Authorities found a fingerprint that was a match to Reddick, according to the DA's office.
Video surveillance of the area surrounding the location captured two men running from the scene after the shooting. One was wearing a black jacket and the other wearing a teal-colored jacket.
Police found a black jacket and teal-colored jacket matching those seen in the video after they got a search warrant to look at Reddick's home.
Both jackets tested positive for gunshot residue, according to the District Attorney's office. A DNA analysis of the teal jacket eventually resulted in a match to Chambers.
Chambers, who was in custody for an unrelated offense, was directly indicted by a Middlesex Superior Court Grand Jury on Nov. 19.
The next scheduled hearing in this case is January 17.
