Water Rescue At Fresh Pond: Cambridge Fire
According to Cambridge Fire officials, someone thought Fred needed rescuing at Fresh Pond Sunday night. Fred didn't think so.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Sunday night someone needed rescuing at Fresh Pond near the lily pond on the golf course side of the pond, according to fire officials.
It turned out two Cambridge residents were worried about their black lab named Fred who swam into Fresh Pond chasing geese. Cambridge Fire Department water rescue team came to the rescue and were just was in launching the inflatable boat to rescue the dog when the dog swam away from the boat back to shore and back to the owners, according to a spokesperson at the fire department.
There were no injuries. Engine 9, Ladder 4, Rescue 1, Squad 4, the Dive Rescue, and Division 2 as well as Cambridge police were on scene.

Scanner reports indicated woman may have waded into the water after a dog, but later fire officials confirmed the call for help was for the dog. And in the end, Fred was A-OK.
