Boil Water Order Continues in Canton Today
The boil water order remains in effect in Canton.

A notice from the Town of Canton:
The by the Department of Environmental Protection will continue until further notice. The town continues to flush the entire water system and empty all storage tanks which replaces the water supply and ensures the chlorination of the entire water distribution system to your location. Chlorination is a normal and routine water quality treatment approach.
The additional chlorination may result in a change to the water color. Residents may also notice a chlorine odor from the water. Neither of these conditions are a health hazard. In fact, these are signs that the town's operational response is working to resolve water quality concerns as soon as possible. The latest test results show no e-coli anywhere in the system.
However, boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation. It is safe to wash your clothes, wash your hands and to take a shower or bath with Canton tap water.
The town appreciates your continued patience and understanding. Our continued goal is to ensure public health and safety and this will guide all decision making.
