Canton Teachers, School Committee Settle on New Contract
The Canton Teachers Association and the school committee finalized a contract for the 2011-2012 school year.
The and the town have settled on a new contract for the current school year. After several , the CTA and the Canton School Committee approved a one-year contract late last week.
School Committee Chairman John Bonnanzio announced the news at Thursday's meeting. The two sides made the final agreement in executive session.
"In addition, the chair of the Board of Selectmen, per state law, was involved with the contract and needs to vote on behalf of BOS and approve the contract," the chairman noted.

"The teachers’ contracts are long, they're lengthy and they're complicated," Bonnanzio noted.
The final contract will be up on the school website in order to allow taxpayers to see how their money is being spent, he said.

"Disclosure is very important," he said. "We have absolutely nothing to hide."
All members of the Canton School Committee were informed throughout the process.
On Thursday, the school committee and Board of Selectmen Chairman John Connolly approved the contract 6-0.
