Some Stoughton Residents Impacted by Canton’s Emergency Boil Water Order

The town of Canton’s has impacted 25 homes in Stoughton, according to the Stoughton Department of Public Works.

These homes (see full list below) are located on the Stoughton/Canton line at Deady Ave., Estey Way, Michael Lane, Pearl St., Pemaquid St., Penopscot St., Washington St., and Stagecoach Rd. These 25 homes are on the Canton water supply, according to the Stoughton DPW.

Earlier this week, Canton water samples tested positive for E. coli.

Canton residents have been unable to drink tap water since Tuesday, as a result, Canton Patch reports. The boil water order has been extended until Monday, October 3. 

“Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation,” according to the Canton town website.  “It is safe to wash your clothes, wash your hands, and to take a shower with Canton tap water. “

The Stoughton DPW is offering assistance to the Stoughton residents impacted by this boil water order.

There is a hose located at the Stoughton DPW Headquarters at 950 Central St. for any needed water. This is not for consumption, the email from the Stoughton DPW states, and they ask that residents bring their own containers.  

This service is available 24/7, according to the Stoughton DPW.
