Town of Canton Distributes Free Bottled Water to Residents
Canton is helping residents impacted by the boil water order.
Despite some long lines and traffic, the town of to nearly 900 residents on Friday. The town plans to distribute more water to residents on Saturday, too.
"We had a lot of very happy, thankful and understanding residents who participated (Friday) and a very limited number who were not happy as some participants felt their wait was too long," Canton Town Administrator Bill Friel told Patch on Friday. "Nearly all participants felt the free water service was a good idea, despite the fact that water remains readily available for sale at many commercial area locations."
Canton has been under from the DEP since Tuesday, when E.coli bacteria was found in a test sample.

On Friday, the town set up a water distribution center on Will Drive. The town also arranged for delivery to the three housing authority locations, the Canton Senior Center and did home delivery to at-risk seniors, according to Friel.
Water distribution will be available today, Saturday, October 1, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at 135 Will Drive. The town is asking residents to enter Will Drive from Pleasant Street and exit via North Street. When going to pick up the free bottled water, folks must bring proof of Canton residency with them in order to receive water.

"All residents who have not yet been served are welcome to participate," Friel said.
