Boston PD Commissioner: Planned Die-In "Disservice to City"
Commissioner William B. Evans says police will still accommodate protesters.

Boston Police Department Commissioner William B. Evans said protesters planning a “die-in” at Wednesday’s First Night New Year’s Eve festivities have chosen an inappropriate venue for the demonstration.
The Boston Herald reported Commissioner Evans said police will accommodate protesters, but he added they shouldn’t expose children to their beliefs.
“I don’t think [children] should have to see behavior that they have nothing to do with,” Evans said at a morning press conference to address security plans for the citywide, all-day extravaganza. “And to disrupt the event on Boylston Street tomorrow night is a disservice not only to the city, but also to their character.”

Boston City Councilor Sal Lamattina urges First Night attendees to “wear something blue” as a show of support for police officers, according to ABC News.
The group First Night Against Police Violence plans to hold a “die-in,” which involves activists lying down in the street in response to recent decisions by grand juries in Ferguson, Mo., and New York not to charge white officers in the deaths of two unarmed black men, in front of the Boston Public Library at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
