Honda and Acura Owners: Watch Where You Park

Thieves in Charlestown have been targeting Hondas in town, according to district A-15 police.

"Airbag theft incidents have continued on A15 over the past several weeks, totaling 12 airbag theft incidents in A15 since 3/28/12," Officer Robert Luongo said in an email this week, "with 3 incidents in the past 10 days."

Luongo said that thieves have targeted Honda Odysseys and Pilots as well as Acura TSX and TLs made between 2005 and 2012.

"Vehicles are most often found with broken passenger-side windows and steering wheel airbags removed," Luongo said.

Luongo said police aren't certain why thives are targeting airbags, but they tend to be an expensive car repair, as this editor's last totalled vehicle can attest to.
