Officials Introduce New Tip Lines to Help Identify Girl Found Dead on Deer Island

A new anonymous text tipline and phone hotline are now available to members of the public who may have information regarding the child.

Officials introduced two new tools that will allow the public a more efficient way of providing information to investigators regarding the ongoing push to identify the remains of a little girl who was found on a Deer Island beach nearly three weeks ago.

A woman discovered the child’s remains in a trash bag on the beach back on June 25. Police say they found white leggings and a zebra-print blanket in the bag. They’ve been working to identify the child ever since.

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley, Massachusetts State Police Colonel Richard D. McKeon and Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty, announced a new anonymous text tipline and phone hotline for the public to utilize on Wednesday at a press conference in Boston.

The public can now text anonymous tips by sending the keyword GIRL to 67283. They can also phone a new 24-hour hotline by calling 617-396-5655.

The cause of death in this case have yet to be determined. Investigators believe the girl was four years old when she died, with brown hair and brown eyes. They said the girl was about 3½ feet tall and weighed just over 30 pounds. She had pierced ears.

Investigators say they’ve received many leads, but none matching this case. The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
