Purse Stolen, Recovered on Medford Street

Victim advised to be more careful walking home late at night.

Around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a theft in progress near the intersection of Medford Street and Old Landing Way.

A victim at that location told police that a man pushed her to the ground from behind and stole her purse before fleeing up Tufts Street into the Bunker Hill housing development.

She had just exited the MBTA bus, the victim told police, and had been walking on Medford Street while talking on her cell phone.

Emergency medical services responded to treat the victim’s injured leg and ankle while police searched the area.

An officer found the victim’s pocketbook inside a dumpster on Starr King Court.

The officer gave the purse back to the victim and advised her to be more vigilant when walking home alone at night.
