Regional Juried Arts Show Sets the Stage for a Stellar Winter Party Supporting the Arts in Concord Saturday, January 31, 6-9pm

Start 2015 by blasting off with Starry Starry Night, a star studded startlingly fun evening that will take place Saturday, January 31, 6-9pm in the galleries of Concord Art Association. You are invited by Concord’s oldest, yet today’s very vital art center to enjoy culinary delights from stars in our community—The Cheese Shop and Debra’s Natural Gourmet; a wine tasting sponsored by West Concord Wine & Spirits, craft beer tasting by Jack’s Abby Brewing, and many more stellar happenings all while being surrounded by the best work of Concord Art’s member artists displayed in the first show of 2015, Members Juried 1: Painting and Sculpture.

Concord residents Charity Tremblay and Sarah Newton are event chairs for Starry Starry Night and have designed an evening that is sure to be fun and engage the community. “Art is so important,” comments Sarah Newton, “Art is critical to the education and inspiration of our children, families and community. As a great resource, Concord Art Association is a cultural gem in our town.” Charity continues, “Sarah and I joined together hoping to bring new faces to Concord Art as well as honor the many local people who have been a part of the organization for a long time. Starry Starry Night offers the unique opportunity for guests to be curatorial experts, as they’ll have the chance to award a prize to what they feel is the best artwork in the show—we’re calling this the People’s Choice Awards.”

In addition to participating as a ‘juror’, there will be a champagne toast and tour with juror Mary Tinti for ticketholders at the “Super Nova” level. And, with the purchase a “Starry Starry Moonshot”, have the chance to acquire a piece of artwork of your choice to enjoy forever! Buy your tickets today at concordart.org

This stellar winter party will occur in the midst of Concord Art’s annual, regional juried show, Members Juried 1: Painting and Sculpture that opens on Thursday, January 15, 6-8pm. The show will run through February 20 and showcases some of the finest work in painting and sculpture in the region. Last year, the work exhibited during MJ1 was likened to that in a museum. Concord Art Director, Kate James explains, “The caliber of art in MJ1 represents the best from our art scene. Guests joining us for Starry Starry Night will engage with the art as critics and jurors. It should be really fun, while supporting artists in our community. Concord is culturally richer and more vital because of the strength of organizations like Concord Art, The Umbrella, and the many performing art groups at 51 Walden. Let’s retain our spirit and inspiration of our cultural district by supporting all of our arts organizations.”

The current show at Concord Art Association, Member Juried 1 is sponsored this year by Lauren Huyett Interiors of Concord. The public is invited to attend the opening this evening, January 15, 6-8pm, meet many of the participating artists and witness the awarding of prizes including the Jean Koch Memorial Best of Show, named in memory of a beloved member of Concord Art Association, who was a former board member and Treasurer. This year, Concord Art received over 300 entries from artists described by Mary Tinti, juror as having “impressive talent, creativity, and artistic versatility.”
