Cancer Care 2015: The Past, Present, and Future, with Dr. Jon S. Du Bois, free talk in Carlisle April 8
Wednesday, April 8, 7 p.m.
Join us for a talk on Cancer Care, past, present, and future, presented by Dr. Jon S. Du Bois, Medical Director, Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital-Bethke. Dr. Du Bois is a cancer specialist who has spent his career focusing not just on the medical illness or disease, but rather treating the patient as a whole. He is a champion of programs supporting and nurturing the practice of compassionate and humanistic care. He believes that the blending of the science as well as the “art” or human side of medicine is critical to the successful caregiving of a patient diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Du Bois intends to share his view on where oncology has been and where it is heading, with particular attention to the newer or more novel molecular or “targeted” therapies that are rapidly evolving in the field. He hopes to apply the concept of “personalized medicine” to the oncology patient. Dr. Du Bois also serves as Chief of Hematology-Oncology at Emerson Hospital, Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School, and is on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital.
