Regarding his topic, Professor Gaillardtez writes: "Some fifty years after the Second Vatican Council many find themselves wondering whether what we are left with is mere nostalgia for a fleeting moment when the church seemed to be entering into a new, more liberating and participatory community of disciples, or an enduring vision that still awaits its full implementation. This talk will assess the progress made over the last five decades in the implementation of the council and consider an agenda for today's church."
