What are they Saying About...? Catholic Priesthood and what it Means to be a Priest Today

Holy Family Parish in Concord, will be hosting its pastor Reverend Austin Fleming on Tuesday, December 6 at Monument Hall in Concord Center. Father Fleming is part of a yearlong program of special adult Faith Formation sessions under the rubric What Are They Saying About….? In this session, Father Fleming will address the topic of the Catholic priesthood and what it means to be a priest today.

Austin Fleming was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Boston in 1973 and has served as a pastor in Concord for 17 years.  He is the author of three small books: Preparing for Liturgy; Prayerbook for Engaged Couples; and Parish Weddings.  For four years he’s been writing the blog, A Concord Pastor Comments. Re this talk, Father Fleming writes:

“What Are They Saying About Being a Priest” is an increasingly important question as the declining number of priests leads to the closing and merging of parish communities.  How do active priests experience these changes?  What are the implications for lay ministry? In addition to praying for vocations to the priesthood, what can the Church do?”

Come and hear what one pastor has to say about being a priest today.
