Fans of Film screening "Being There"

We are an independent group of film goers whose mission is to promote the showing of independent, art, documentary, foreign and classic film

Fans of Film at Fine Arts Theatre, Maynard proudly presents "Being There".

Show dates and times are June 7 and 8 (Tuesday and Wednesday) at 7:30pm.

“Being There” is a 1979 American comedy-drama film direct by Hal Ashby, with screenplay adapted by Jerzy Kosinski and Robert C. Jones from the 1970 novella by Kosinski. The film stars Peter Sellers, Shirley MacLaine, Melvyn Douglas, Richard A Dysart, Jack Warden and Richard Basehart. Douglas won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and Sellers was nominated for Best Actor. The screenplay won the British Academy Film Award for Best Screenplay and the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Adapted from Another Medium. It was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Screen Play

A simple-minded gardener named Chance has spent all his life in the Washington D.C. house of an old man. When the man dies, Chance is put out on the street with no knowledge of the world except what he has learned from television. While wandering DC he ends up befriending an influential but sickly businessman named Ben. Now called Chauncey Gardner, Chance becomes a media celebrity and appears on a national television talk show. He rapidly joins the A-list of the most wanted in Washington society.

Fans of Film shows are every second Tuesday and Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm. Ticket price are $7.00 and should be purchased at the door.
