Fenn Winter Sports in Full Swing

Here's a look at what's happening in Fenn School athletics so far in 2012.

The following information was provided by Brenda Dupont on behalf of athletics:

Fenn's Varsity Hockey team is off to a strong start. Fenn skated to an impressive victory Wednesday at Dexter School in Newton, marking its fourth straight win. Fenn spotted Dexter a 1-0 lead, but Will Robertson (Acton) responded for Fenn in the closing minutes of the first period. Jake Goorno (Sudbury) scored two third-period goals en route to the 3-1 Fenn win. Leo Saraceno (Acton) was brilliant in goal.

Hosting a chippy Hillside team on Friday, Fenn saw its four-game win streak come to a screeching halt. Hillside put one on the board midway through the second then took a 2-0 advantage at the start of the third, when a rebound dribbled by the glove hand of Saraceno. Fenn could not get on the scoreboard and fell to Hillside, 2-0.

Fenn's Varsity Basketball team hosted Worcester Academy on Wednesday in the home opener. Fenn held a convincing 35-19 lead at the half with aggressive defense and a good fast break making the difference. Austin Dorsey (Sudbury) led all Fenn scorers with 12 points in the 55-29 victory. Fenn's Varsity Basketball team is 3-0 to start the season.
